文字 底 理想的 寫法
（一）

習慣 底 勢力 這種 勢力 比 古＝人 遺傳 底 勢力 還要 來 得 利害。不獨 人類 如此，就是 禽獸 也 有 這種 勢力。這 是 祖宗＝獸性 時期 遺傳 下來 底。在 我們 感官 底 能力 中，卽如 眼睛，我們 通常 用 爲 嚮導。或 是 取 物，或 是 走 路，都 必 用 眼睛。但是 眼睛 在 普通 粗淺的 動作 上 可以 做 嚮導；倘若 在 物質的 構造 上，如 電子 原子 等，眼睛 就 不能 做 嚮導 了。所以 拿 五官 來 做 嚮導，所做底 不過 是 普通 避 害 取 利 底 事情；至於 知識 就 不是 靠着 五官 所能 得 底 了。然而 科學 拿 五官 底 報告 做 根據，那麼，科學 底 起點 已錯。這 可 算 科學 底 一個 缺點 了。因爲 我們 假使 憑着 五官 去 觀察 事物，就 覺得 地球 是 靜止的 東西。太陽 東 升 西 沒，是 動的 東西，五官 這 一類 底 報告，於 普通 做 事 毫無 害處，而 於 日常 生活 底 嚮導 反爲 有利。但是 研究 到 學問 上去，不但 無利，而且 有害，這 正 是 相反的 事。所以 科學 方法，不但 要 脫離 習俗 底 束縛，並須 脫離 感官 底 專制。（杜威 試驗論理學 第四講。）
（三）
諸君，正當的 人間＝生活 已經 離 我們 不 遠 了！我們 要 爲 這昏迷 如睡 的 世界 造 一條 達到 那 種 生活 底 捷徑，敎 人人 都 能够 在 那 上頭 行走。所謂 捷徑，是 指着 什麼 說 底呢？就 是 創造 一種 藝術的 人生觀，凡 屬 人間＝生活 底 條件，都 要 受他 底 支持 和 供養。
創造 藝術的 人生觀 底 第一步，應 從 那裏 入手 呢？最 要緊的，自然是‘美術 運動’。在 現在 中國 底 社會 裏頭，這種 運動 似乎 有點 萌芽，然而 多數 人 對於 美術＝敎育 還是 脫 不掉‘範本’和‘模寫’底 習氣。這種‘仍舊貫’ 底 眼光，是 因爲 繪畫 底 人 不 知道 美術家 卽是 創造者 和 豫言者 底 緣故。
‘範本’或‘模寫’底 流弊，就是 產出 枯澀 無味的 作品。比方 畫 天空 定 用 青 色，寫 肉體 定 用 赭 色 和 白 色，繪畫 底 人 絕 不想 到 怎樣 去 變化 他們。這樣 底 結果，不但 不能 產出 活潑的 藝術，且要 將 吾人 觀察 自然 底 眼光 永遠 被那 矯揉 造作的 和穢雜的 屍體 掩蓋住，敎 吾人 對於 自然界 底 形 色 不能 發生 興味。
‘範本’或‘模寫’ 旣然 有 以上 所述 底 弊端，我們 就得 把 他 改造，敎 人人 底 身＝心 時常 受 那‘自然 底 牧場’所 供養。要是 如此，那 純美的，無垢的，和 活潑的 藝術 就 可以‘實現’哪。
法蘭西 畫家 有句 Depre nature 底話， 譯出來 就是‘直寫’，那 意思 是 說，作品 要 直接地 由 自然 中間 取 出來，敝同人 都 有 這樣 底 主張，更是 懷抱着 這樣 底 希望。（虹社 第一次 宣言。）
